Back in the Summer I headed up to North Yorkshire for Jodie and Jonathan’s Carlton Towers Wedding.
The sun shone all day for Jodie and Jonny’s wedding in scenic North Yorkshire. The happy couple chose to get married in the beautiful church of St Mary the Virgin in the pretty village of Hemingbrough. This 12th century church has a rich history and an impressive 120 foot spire which can be seen for miles making it an awe inspiring venue for a wedding ceremony.
The couple had booked their wedding a year before shortly before moving away from the area so returning to beautiful North Yorkshire for their wedding and spending it with all the loved ones they’d left behind made the day all the more special for them.
Jodie and Jonny had been together 11 years when they got married, though they had met when they were still very young. Jodie recalls seeing Jonny playing football in the local park and wondering who he was. They were later introduced, became friends and then started dating as teenagers. Little did Jodie (or possibly Jonny) know that the teenager she had seen kicking a ball around in the park would later go on to be a premiership footballer.
Jodie prepared for the wedding at their reception venue the sensational Carlton Towers. Jodie looked every bit the fairy tale bride in her Belle Dress from Alfred Angelo’s Disney range. Her hair styled by Sharon from Salon Days and make-up by close friend and professional make-up artist Jade Kisnorbo. Her bouquet was made entirely of her favourite roses. Jodie was in good hands being well looked after by her attentive sister and maid of honour Hannah. Bridesmaids were Jodie’s best friends Jodie and Charlotte as well as Jonny’s lovely cousin Laura. The pretty flowers girls were first and foremost daughter Scarlett, then god daughter Isabella and good friends’ daughter Freya. That’s a lot of girls so let’s talk about the men in this wedding party!
Jonny was also well looked after in the capable hands of best man and brother Daniel. Ushers were Jonny’s cousin Ben, Jonny’s football friend Ben, Jonny’s best friend Curly (real name Daniel!) and good friend and Jodie’s sister’s boyfriend Tom.
After the beautiful ceremony Jodie, Jonny and their guests went to the magnificent Carlton Towers for the reception. Carlton Towers is a privately owned Grade I listed Victorian gothic country house in Carlton, North Yorkshire. I have been a Carlton Towers wedding photographer several times before but on seeing it again it never fails to take my breath away. The interiors are equally impressive and gave Jodie, Jonny and their guests all the space they needed to circulate and enjoy the day. The venue really gave the reception a luxurious and stately feel.
After enjoying reception drinks whilst making the most of the sunshine everybody sat down to a sumptuous wedding breakfast. After which were the speeches. Lots more friends and family joined the happy couple for the evening where the celebrations started with a romantic first dance followed by much more dancing and partying well into the night.
A traditional wedding ceremony, a luxurious and stately reception ending with a really good party. A great wedding day with lots of love and laughter. Congratulations to Jodie and Jonny for getting married and creating such a wonderful day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
