Whirlobrook Hall wedding Helen and Marc
Helen and Marc returned to Helen’s home, the small pretty town of Tickhill in Yorkshire, for their wedding. Helen prepared for the day at her parents’ house where she was attentively looked after by her parents, maid of honour Imogen and bridesmaids Emma, Kirsty and Laura. Helen wore a stunning dress by Ronald Joyce, which coupled with her make up by Sam Howcroft and her beautifully curled and pinned hairstyle provided by Emily Almond at The Laurels Hair and Beauty Boutique, gave her an elegant look of understated glamour. Flowers were provided by Hibiscus in Doncaster.
The grooms’ party consisted of course of Marc, brother and best man Luke and ushers Robert, Jonny and Wesley.
The weather stayed dry for us and there were some sunny spells that enabled me to make the most of the natural light.
The wedding ceremony was held at St Mary’s in Tickhill.
A Grade 1 listed church dating from the early 12th century and built with local magnesium limestone. The structure is perpendicular in style with glimpses of earlier Norman, Early English and Decorated styles. It really is a handsome church so ideal for wedding ceremonies. Helen had no excuses for being late to the church, as her journey from her parents’ house consisted of a thirty second walk from door to door as her parents’ live directly opposite the church.
However, it was a commitment to longer journeys that saw this pair getting together. Helen and Marc were introduced by a mutual friend, when Helen was still living in Tickhill and Marc in London. Their first date was in Cambridge (as it sits halfway between Yorkshire and London) and the rest, as they say, is history.
After a lovely ceremony Helen and Marc’s guests all headed straight for Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield for the reception. Whilst I took the couple (who travelled in a gorgeous convertible VW Beetle) and headed into the Peak District so I could take a few portrait shots, we then got back on course and arrived at Whirlowbrook Hall to a warm welcome.
Whirlowbrook Hall is a stunning wedding venue.
It is a lovely mix of old and new giving it a traditional yet modern elegant feel. Set in 39 acres of Whirlowbrook Park the manor house sits high on its elevated terrace with spectacular views of the gardens. A stunning backdrop for Whirlobrook Hall Wedding photography and giving me lots of opportunities to take some great shots. In fact Helen said of it “It was the perfect place for our winter wedding. Marc and I fell completely in love with Whirlowbrook the first time we went to visit, and no other venue compared afterwards ….”
After the drinks reception, which included a magician entertaining guests with tricks, there was a sumptuous wedding breakfast. Speeches were bravely delivered by Marc, Helen’s father Paul, and Best Man Luke who performed a magic trick that saw Marc strip to much rapturous applause!
First dance was to ‘Thinking out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran and it wasn’t long before Marc and Helen had plenty of company on the dance floor. Before leaving I took Helen and Marc outside to quickly take some after dark shots of them. These evening high impact shots are something of a trademark of mine and I was really pleased with them. I think they close the story of Helen and Marc’s day perfectly.
Congratulations to Helen and Marc for getting married and creating such a magical (quite literally!) Whirlobrook Hall wedding. I hope my images will help you to relive your day again and again for many years to come.
