Sharon and John’s Crewe Hall winter wedding
Sharon and John chose the majestic Crewe Hall in Cheshire for their intimate night time wedding. Crewe Hall is a Grade 1 listed 400 year old Jacobean mansion with a rich history with the site of the mansion dating back to 1170. It came into the Crewe family in 1608. As well as being a stunning building set within extensive grounds it has a lavish and opulent interior that makes Crewe Hall winter wedding photography both iconic and memorable.
Despite being old Crewe Hall has all the modern comforts and boasts a very good spa. It seems fitting that this couple should marry at a venue with a Jacuzzi as it is in a Jacuzzi (at a gym) that the pair first met and not on any ordinary day. Sharon and John met in a Jacuzzi on Valentine’s Day 2012. (Fate?)
The ceremony was held at six o’clock in the evening, and as it was the weekend of the clocks going back, it was dark. I can totally see why Sharon and John opted for a Crewe Hall winter wedding as the evening completely suits the style and grandeur of the venue. Sharon, who got ready at the hotel, wore a beautiful dress by Lillian West with hairstyling and make-up provided by Dollface. Attentive bridesmaids Annette and Ella May were on hand to help Sharon with her final preparations. Flowers were provided by Helen Bryan florists.
The ceremony was held in the Oak Parlour, a room that boasts some original oak panelling and is entirely wainscoted in oak with a decorated ceiling. Its splendour really is breath-taking.
After the ceremony there was a chance for me to take some more shots before Sharon, John and their guests moved into the Hall of Pillars for a chic drinks reception.
The Hall of Pillars is another truly ornate grand room with a hammer beamed roof and elaborate intricacies of carving and plaster decorating. It has a grand ornamented fireplace with Crewe Hall’s two mottos inscribed on it. One of which reads ‘Sequor nec Inferior’ which means ‘I follow but not inferior’ which seems a good message at the start of married life! Following on from the drinks reception the couple and their guests were treated to a 7 course taster menu served with champagne and wine.
There were no formal speeches but Sharon’s father Lester said a few words along with stand in best man Paul. After the celebrations Sharon and John stayed in the hotel, and I assume, found time to try out the Jacuzzi before they checked out!
A luxurious intimate and laid back wedding in a sumptuous venue. Congratulations to Sharon and John for getting married and creating such a memorable wedding. I hope my images will help you to relive it time and time again.
