Michelle and Olivers Woburn Abbey Wedding
The sun shone all day for Michelle and Oliver’s wedding. The couple chose to get married at St Mary’s Church in Woburn. St Mary’s has a rich history, it was built by a Duke and consequently has suitably noble proportions (it’s big). Dating back to 1865 it has an unusual Romanesque style though its interiors show the marks of a French cathedral with their lofty lines, slender pillars and single vaulted roof. The grandeur of the building made it an ideal and unique place for Michelle and Oliver to get married in.
The couple prepared for the wedding at nearby Flitwick Manor Hotel, a classic Georgian country house hotel nearby. Whilst they made their final preparations the ushers found themselves feeling thirsty so went for a drink in pretty Woburn village.
Michelle looked amazing in her beautiful dress by British Designer Sassi Holford, whose dresses are all hand made in the UK, the dress was complimented by shoes by the world renowned shoe designer Christian Laboutin.
After the ceremony guests made their way to the magnificent Woburn Abbey for the reception.
I love shooting weddings at Woburn Abbey because as a venue it is quite simply awe inspiring. It has been home to the Dukes of Bedford for nearly 400 years and remains in the family to this day. Set in 3,000 acre deer park, the Woburn Estate offers a stunning backdrop for weddings. Originally a monastery, Woburn Abbey was given by Edward VI to the Russell family in 1547. Since then, leading architects, including Henry Flitcroft, Henry Holland and Sir Jeffry Wyatville, have created the stunning historic house that it is today.
On arrival at the Abbey Michelle, Oliver and their guests enjoyed a champagne reception on the terrace where they could enjoy the spectacular views of the gardens and the glorious sunshine. This lovely couple, their happy guests, the glorious weather and the stunning venue made for a satisfying days’ work for this Woburn Abbey wedding photographer
Congratulations to Michelle and Oliver for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
